Daniel asked something very simple, for Samantha to tell the whole truth, but Milner manipulates by saying what does Daniel want her to say, (set him up), if Daniel would say what he wants to say, then is the version of Daniel and they will claim they had to say what Daniel told them to, that is why Daniel ask only for her to tell her version in detail.
